Our Principles
Bells Ventures has invested as an angel consortium since 2013. We typically focus on seed stage companies, though have invested in pre-seed through series E stages. Our investment approach is defined by our flexible frameworks for understanding risk and technical rigor in assessing opportunity. Our outlook has been shaped by our combined experience managing complex portfolios at market leading institutions, leading product teams to build technology, and playing active roles as private market investors in over two dozen companies. We seek to provide value through supporting fundraising, providing strategic guidance, and leveraging our network to drive business development. JONATHAN BIRNBAUM
Principal
Jon has over a decade of experience spanning the Morgan Stanley trading floor, incubating early stage startups, and running a trading team at Bridgewater, the world’s largest hedge fund. He is particularly interested in fintech companies building the future of capital markets, personal finance, and wealth management. He graduated from MIT in 2008 with degrees in Computer Science and Finance, received his MBA with honors from Columbia Business School, and was awarded Forbes 30 Under 30 distinction in Finance in 2016.
JULIA YU
Principal
Julia has a decade of experience as an investment professional in the hedge fund industry, managing cross-asset global macro portfolios and building trading operations. She is passionate about improving lives globally through technology and is also an early adopter of the crypto and blockchain ecosystem. She is a regular speaker representing women and minorities in finance and tech. Julia graduated from MIT in 2010 with degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science, and was awarded Forbes 30 Under 30 distinction in Finance in 2018.
XING YUAN
Principal
Xing has over 10 years of institutional trading experience, managing commodities and relative value strategies on behalf of investment banks and hedge funds. He graduated from MIT in 2008 with degrees in Mathematics and Finance, and was awarded Forbes 30 Under 30 distinction in Finance in 2015.
